Robot Dresspack Hose Sizes Explained: How to Select Corrugated Hoses, Brackets and Custom Dresspacks
How to size a robot dresspack corrugated hose by its real inner diameter, choose between PUR and PA12, understand the bracket system, and when to go for a custom dresspack for ABB, KUKA, FANUC, YASKAWA and cobots.
A robot dresspack protects the cables and hoses that run along a robot arm: power, signal, air and process media. At its core is a corrugated hose held by a system of brackets. Choosing the wrong hose size is one of the most common reasons a dresspack does not fit the existing brackets or has to be replaced early.
This guide explains how hose sizes really work, how to choose the material, what the bracket system consists of, and when a custom dresspack is the better answer.
1. Size numbers are not always inner diameters
Every dresspack hose is sold by a "size number", but manufacturers do not all define that number the same way.
- At Fadeya, the size number is the inner diameter. A size 36 hose has a 36 mm inner diameter.
- At LEONI (now BizLink), the proflex size number is also the inner diameter. LEONI's robot dresspack business is now part of BizLink, and its hoses are sold as BizLink proflex.
- Other manufacturers may use a size number that differs from the actual bore. One manufacturer's "size 36" hose, for example, has an inner diameter of only about 28.9 mm.
Rule of thumb: always select by the actual inner diameter, never by the size number alone. If you are replacing a hose from another brand, measure the inner and outer diameter of the old hose, or check its data sheet, before ordering.

3. Choosing the material: PUR or PA12

If you are replacing an existing LEONI proflex hose, choose PA12 so that material and dimensions match. For new projects, tell us the robot model and the cables and hoses to be routed, and we will recommend the right material.
4. The bracket system
The hose only performs as well as the brackets holding it. Depending on the robot and the application, a dresspack combines:
- Fixed brackets
- Sliding (guide) brackets
- Brackets with ball joints
- Rotating brackets
- Front-end brackets
Accessories such as return springs and multi-function friction balls complete the system.
For collaborative robots, we use strap-type mounting instead of bolted brackets, so you avoid drilling into the robot arm.
5. Custom dresspacks for every major robot brand
